I Booked a Job! Now What?
I Booked a Job! Now What?
When a talent books a job the number one rule is to never contact the client directly. Your agency will handle all correspondence with the client. If you are given a number by your agent the only time to utilize that number is on the day of shoot. Any questions or concerns need to be directed to your agent who will then contact the client about your questions or concerns.
The agency will provide you with time, location, and wardrobe information for the shoot. Please remember that sometimes information can be last minute. Also, remember that you are the talent and they are the client. It is their schedule, not yours, that sets time and date of shoot. Talent is expected to work around clients schedule not vice versa.
On the day of shoot if you are running late or are lost immediately call the agency so they can inform the client. It is always best to allow an extra half hour in case of traffic.
Talent is also responsible to check with agency that they have all information that is needed for a shoot. If you are told that you will be receiving a script and have not received it the day before a shoot, it is imperative that you call your agent and let them know. Do not wait till day of shoot to ask about a missing script. If your agent has told you they will be e-mailing you the script right away and if by the end of the day you have not received the script then call your agent to let them know.
On most occasions, you will be expected to bring wardrobe. The agency will give you specifics on what the client wants and is expecting. Everything must be clean and pressed and you must take the appropriate under garments, socks, shoes and jewelry.
What is Camera Ready?
When the agency tells you that are to arrive camera ready it means that you are to arrive on set with hair and make-up already done. Make-up should always be natural and not heavy. Make sure to take powder, lipstick, eye shadow, eyeliner and mascara for emergency purposes. Also, for hair purposes always take a hairbrush, curler, straightener, hairspray, and other styling products that you use. Katalyst has put together a packet on what talent should always carry in their “Actor/Model Bag”. You will be given this information when accepted into the agency. If you are Katalyst talent and for some reason do not have a copy of this list please e-mail [email protected] for a copy .
